Our Instructors
Mike Asbury
Mike is the President of MP47 Training and Consulting, LLC and teaches several courses for the company. He is a full-time law enforcement officer at an agency in Northeast Ohio. Mike is a certified rifle instructor, semi-auto pistol instructor, and shotgun instructor through the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (BAS25144 and REQ07963). He holds instructor certifications in High Threat Vehicle Engagements, High Threat Close Quarter Battle and is also a certified Red Dot Pistol instructor. Mike spent time as a SWAT operator and has certifications in Basic SWAT and Advanced SWAT. Mike has committed to bringing practical style shooting to the area and hopes to bring another layer of training for law enforcement officers. He has a passion for helping students of all different backgrounds and skill levels achieve and exceed their goals.
Ben Taylor
Ben is a full-time law enforcement officer at an agency in Northeast Ohio since 2016. Ben has been a member of his agency’s SWAT team since 2019. Ben began shooting competitively in 2019 and continues to shoot in various local and regional level matches. Ben continues to pursue instruction in all disciplines of shooting, having taken courses from various industry professionals in both the competition and tactical realms. His experience, combined with his desire to improve his own skillset, makes him a great fit for MP47. Look for Ben at our pistol and rifle courses!
Nick Jascoe
Certified as a USCCA Concealed Carry Instructor and UTM Instructor, Nick will be assisting with our Ohio Basic Concealed Carry Courses and our Pistol Skills Solutions Courses. A small business owner of 20+ years, Nick is a lifelong resident of NE Ohio, and he also volunteers as an administrator for a private, non-profit organization. Nick shares the same commitment to safe, responsible firearms training that all MP47 Training and Consulting, LLC staff do. Nick has attended several training courses to assist him in his development as a shooter and an instructor. He’s a proud supporter of law enforcement and our military members and shows that support through offering a free class to law enforcement and military members once a year. Rick Vega
Rick is one of our newest instructors and is an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor. He started educating and working with students in 2018 near the time his son was born. Rick describes his introduction to shooting as a “shaky introduction” and believes there should be a higher standard of education and safety of firearms for people beginning to learn to shoot. Rick has taken several courses in vehicle defense, CCW defense and home defense. He is one of the security leads for a church that has several locations. Look for Rick at upcoming courses. He’ll be helping out on the range and will be available to help students in various courses.
Tanner Doenges
Tanner is a full-time law enforcement officer at an agency in Northeast Ohio. Tanner is a USPSA Grand Master class shooter in Limited Optics and Master class in Carry Optics with multiple top 10 finishes at state championship matches. With Tanner comes a great combination of practical shooting skills and real life experience that is passed on to the students. Tanner will be running performance pistol based courses and assisting on a variety of other courses throughout the year. Come train at the next level and discover your limits.
